I've been personally awed these past few weeks by some striking, historic celestial and world events that coincide with a critical spiritual season. The timing should give us all pause during these increasingly turbulent times.
Today is Yom Kippur, the Jewish Day of Atonement that punctuates the Ten Days of Awe, a period of self-reflection and repentance following the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashana, which started October 2. All this comes on the heels of the Hebrew month of Elul, marked by somber reflection in preparation for the Jewish feasts.
Jesus was a Jew, of course, and many Christians still observe these powerful holidays with fresh gratitude for the Ultimate Atonement. Many believe Christ will return to fulfill the fall feasts someday...and to judge the living and the dead. ALL of us. (2 Corinthians 5:10)
I'm not suggesting that Jesus is coming back next Tuesday at noon since nobody knows when. However, given other predictions that seem to be unfolding, it's worth noting:
"You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains." Jesus, Matthew 24:6-13

"But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people." 2 Timothy 3:1-5.

It's also worth asking ourselves if we're ready to stand before Him.💖
PRAY:
Almighty God, please forgive us for our downright ridiculous hubris in defying you. You are God. We are not. Let Your heavenly displays fill us with awe-- reverential fear--so we re/turn to You in grateful, humble dependence. Please open our eyes, have mercy, and extend your Amazing Grace in Christ's name. Amen. Thank you. I love you. 💖
